Otelo eGen is a research and consulting company in Upper Austria with focus on regional development, education, digitization and fostering social innovation. In addition, Otelo eGen operates a voluntary research and development network with currently 33 locations and around 600 active members. The network of open technology labs initiates, develops and conducts interdisciplinary, easily accessible research- and experimental laboratories, which counteract migration related prob-lems, unemployment, increasing poverty, the loss of regional identity and culture. Through the combination of diverse social innovation techniques, such as the use of new organisation princi-ples, new technologies, and local communication and networking platforms, sustainable em-ployment and education models can be created. In addition, Otelo eGen organises and advises coworking spaces in rural areas and operates its own coworking spaces in some rural areas.
