As part of the Leipzig University’s Research Academy and its Centre for Area Studies the GS GAS offers a structured doctoral training programme combining global and transnational history on the one hand and international, area and transregional studies on the other hand. The fields of study include the investigation of commodity chains, international organizations, migration systems and cultural transfers in the study of critical junctures of globalization. Besides the well-structured interdisciplinary teaching programme the GS GAS provides competent individual supervision as well as the opportunity to interact with a group of more than 120 other PhD candidates and Post-docs in the same field of interest.
